The Natural Resources Defense Council in the US, does some great work, but this promo to raise awareness about global warming ultimately leaves me cold. While the idea of a hot cup sleeve that says “protect yourself from global warming” around a cup printed with a map of the world is okay as far as cleverness, it will take a whole lot of convincing to make me believe that using disposable cups is the appropriate way to make this point. Here’s the City of Toronto’s response to coffee cups. http://www.thestar.com/News/GTA/article/499032 Interestingly, in the past, they’ve used reusable mugs to highlight the same issue, which seemed much more appropriate.
